Golf GTI (MK5) Edition 30 | Stage 1 ECU Tune Review

We have now been running the stage 1 ECU software on our Golf for around 2 months and I thought it would be a good time to let you know our thoughts... If described in just two words I would choose "magnificent transformation"

Where to start... the torque this car produces is amazing. With the K04 turbo it takes a second to spool but once up and running it really kicks! The power surges in from around 2600RPM max torque is achieved just 200RPM later at 2800RPM. By this point the car is rocketing forward with your stomach touching your spine! The torque curve is aggressive rocketing upward and then remaining constant almost all the way through to the redline.

Following the torque curve following a similar curvature is the power. This car offers immense power through each gear. Having come from a naturally aspirated V8 with 360HP & 510NM the driving experience couldn't be further apart but this car feels every bit as fast as my previous machine. During data logging the Golf achieved peak figures of 272HP & 495NM which is fairly staggering for just stage 1 software without any additional supporting modifications. 

Dropping down through the gears the car feels urgent and responsive to inputs. I cannot wait to take you all on the journey as we start to make supporting modifications and start to chase higher power figures. It is very important that this software is of OEM+ quality as the car is used as a daily driver and is being built to showcase the parts we can offer alongside our engine tuning software.
